HP Officejet 4635
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Device doesn't power on. I can hear a nigh-pitch noise when printer is plugged in. Screen displays nothing. Print heads don't move.

At one point device had a screen that claimed it needed to be reflashed.

I unplugged it, removed power cord. disconnected power cord from wall. waited 60 seconds. plugged it back in and then the following error code popped up: 0xb0004852.

Screen went back to being blank, printer now unresponsive again regardless of unplugging it, disconnecting usb cable, etc..

@tiggywinkle Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are getting the error code 0XB0004852.

  • Is the printer connected on a WiFi network?
  • Does the error go off if you remove the ink cartridges?

Let's try these steps:

Step 1: Power Reset

  • If the printer is connected to a WiFi, turn off the WiFi.
  • Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
  • Turn the printer on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait at least 60 seconds
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  • Try making a copy and check if it works.
  • Now turn on the WiFi and check if you can print/copy.

Step 2: Update the printer firmware

  • Refer to this link to update the printer firmware.
  • Once the update is complete, try to print/copy

Also, try using the printer with just 1 ink cartridge in the printer.

  • Remove any 1 of the ink and check if the printer functions with just 1 ink cartridge
  • Try to make a copy/print
  • Try swapping the inks and check if you can print with the other ink in a single cartridge mode

Oh dear.

Seems that this is a bot? Because you certainly didn't read my original post which mentioned already perfoming many of these steps. Most importantly, this machine DOESN"T POWER UP AT ALL, so none of the steps you mention have any effect. Your reply was basically just copy and paste from other posts...where they also failed.

What a total piece of junk this HP Officejet 4635 has been. Expensive ink. Clunky interface. Lasted a WHOLE TWO YEARS before cataclysmically failing...followed by not very useful customer support. I'll probably never buy another HP printer again and will probably take this thread to Reddit where I can let others know what a piece of junk this printer is. Maybe redditors will be able to help. Peace out.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.
