@Catsinc, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer facing an error code 9!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Error code 9 on an HP printer typically indicates a "Babble" error, which is related to network connections. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve this error:

Check Network Connections:

  • Ensure all network cables are properly connected and intact.
  • Verify that your Ethernet connections are secure if you are using wired connections.

Run Power-On Self-Test:

  • Turn off the printer, then turn it on again.
  • This might resolve temporary issues with the print server.

Replace HP Jetdirect Print Server:

  • If the error persists after checking connections and running the self-test, the HP Jetdirect print server may need to be replaced. Refer to the hardware installation guide for replacement instructions.

Additional Steps for Wireless Connections:

Verify Wireless Network Status:

  • Ensure your router is functional and the network signal is strong.
  • Check for interference from other devices like microwaves or cordless phones that might disrupt the wireless connection.

Printer Placement:

  • Make sure the printer is placed in a location with good signal reception, ideally within 3 to 5 feet from the router.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
