HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

All lights on my HP 6455e All in One printer are flashing.  I tried powering off and back on several times.  Nothing.  There is no paper jam.  Should I uninstall and re-install the printer?

Hi @CatTam,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the flashing lights.

This looks like a hardware issue. However,

When all the lights on your HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One printer are flashing, it typically indicates an error condition that needs to be addressed. Here are some steps to help you diagnose and resolve the issue:

1. Restart the Printer

Sometimes a simple restart can resolve the issue.

Power Off:

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source.

Wait:

  • Wait for about 60 seconds.

Power On:

  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

2. Check for Error Messages

Look at the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device for any error messages or codes.

Control Panel:

  • Check the printer's control panel for any specific error messages or icons.

HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app and check for any notifications or error messages related to the printer.

3. Check for Paper Jams

Paper jams can cause the printer to flash all lights.

Inspect Paper Trays:

  • Open all paper trays and remove any paper that may be jammed.

Check Inside the Printer:

  • Open the printer’s access doors and look for any jammed paper inside the printer.

Remove Jammed Paper:

  • Gently remove any jammed paper, being careful not to tear it.

4. Check Ink Cartridges

Ensure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed and have enough ink.

Open Ink Cartridge Access Door:

  • Open the door to access the ink cartridges.

Inspect Cartridges:

  • Ensure the cartridges are correctly installed and secure.
  • Check for any ink leaks or damage.

Replace Cartridges if Needed:

  • If any cartridges are low or empty, replace them with new ones.

Kindly check the next steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @CatTam,

Please find the next steps below.

5. Reset the Printer

Performing a reset can sometimes clear any errors.

  1. Hard Reset:
    • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
    • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then back into the printer.
    • Turn the printer on.

6. Update Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause the printer to behave erratically.

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Go to the HP Support website.
    • Enter your printer model (HP ENVY 6455e) and check for any available firmware updates.
    • Follow the instructions to download and install the latest firmware.

7. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

HP's diagnostic tool can help identify and resolve issues.

  1. Download and Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
    • Download HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP Support website.
    • Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and resolve any issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the issue with your HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One printer.

Thank you for your instructions. However, yesterday, I was able to speak with an HP tech, and we went through all of those steps and the printer lights continue to flash, as does the error light.  Agent said this is a hardware issue that cannot be fixed.

Wow, this is disappointing to hear. I am so confused why these printers give so many issues and HP cannot resolve them.  I don't think I will be buying an HP ever again. The perks that we pay for are great, but the headaches these printers come with is not worth it.
