I apologize in advance for not being specific about the error messages. I didn't write them down, because I have never had this extensive of a problem before. My 8610 quit in the middle of a print job and showed some sort of ink system failure. I have tried the following: resetting cartridges, 2 new HP black cartridges (it was low), cleaning the printhead, powering off/on, and a hard reset. During this process, I kept getting different error messages all to do with Ink. Now it is showing "One or more cartridges appear to be damaged. Remove them and replace with new cartridges." for the black ink. I've already put 2 new ones in there and it made no difference. It's stuck on this page. I can't get to anything else on the screen. If I turn it off and back on, the screen shows the HP logo, then pops up the same error message. Is there a way to factory reset the printer without using the screen?

Hi @Nerd_1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, you can perform a factory reset on the HP Officejet Pro 8610 without using the screen. Follow these steps.
- Turn off the Printer: Ensure that the printer is turned off. If it's on, turn it off by unplugging the power cord.
- Disconnect Power Cord: Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer. Wait for about 10-15 seconds.
- Reconnect Power Cord: Plug the power cord back into the printer.
- Turn on the Printer: Turn the printer back on. If it doesn't turn on automatically, press the power button.
- Perform a Reset: While the printer is turning on, press and hold the lower right-hand corner of the touchscreen. Keep holding it until you see the "Support Menu" on the screen.
- Navigate to Resets Menu: Use the arrow buttons to navigate to the "Resets Menu" on the touchscreen.
- Perform Full Reset: Look for an option like "Semi-Full Reset" or "Full Reset" in the menu. Select it and confirm your choice.
- Wait for Reset: The printer will take some time to perform the reset. Once it's done, it should restart, and you might need to set up the printer again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I tried this. But I do not get the "Support Menu" on the screen. Immediately after turning the printer back on, I see the HP logo on screen with a progress bar. While still holding down the lower right-hand corner of the screen, the next thing I see is the error message "One or more cartridges appear to be damaged. Remove them and replace with new cartridges." I cannot dismiss this message or get to anything else on the screen. Is there a way to factory reset without using the screen?
