HP Office Jet Pro 8028 error message: 'printer cartrigde cannot move'

when it clearly is moving.

I believe it's a broken cartridge sensor.

Is the machine worth fixing?

thanks

Common issue is that the encoder strip breaks off one end and then the printer is not able to track where the carriage is. The encoder strip is a thin plastic strip that runs parallel to the movement of the carriage. There is a hole in each end that clips onto a bracket to hold it in place. I have seen cases where the end breaks. If that is the case, you may be able to reinforce the end with some duct tape and then reattach it.
