HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

the error message states "printer failure. there is a problem with the printer or ink system. turn printer off, then on. if problem persists, contact hp." I have turned the printer off and on multiple times and the problem persists.

Hi @lfrag,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message you're seeing on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 indicates a potential issue with the printer or its ink system. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue.

  • Restart the Printer: Since you've already tried turning it off and on, try unplugging the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
  • Check Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly seated and not low on ink. Sometimes reseating or replacing cartridges can resolve issues.
  • Inspect the Printhead: The printer may have a removable printhead that needs to be cleaned or reinstalled. Follow your printer's manual or HP's instructions for removing and reinserting the printhead properly.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes updating the firmware can resolve underlying issues.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a partial or semi-full reset of the printer. This process varies depending on the model, so refer to your printer's manual or HP's support website for specific instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
