Hi @raika73,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP ENVY 6458e All-In-One Printer is experiencing a significant issue that's not resolved by simply changing the ink cartridges. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem.

Check Ink Cartridges and Installation

  • Ensure that the new cartridges are properly installed and that any protective tape covering the nozzles is removed.
  • Verify that the cartridges are genuine HP cartridges and not third-party or refilled cartridges.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Clean the Printhead

Since you mentioned that the printer does not allow you to perform a printhead cleaning via the app, you can try cleaning the printhead manually:

  • Open the printer and carefully remove the printhead.
  • Gently clean the printhead contacts with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Allow the printhead to dry completely before reinstalling it.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Run Printer Diagnostics

  • Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor, a free tool provided by HP to diagnose and resolve printing issues.
  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP website.

Check Printer Settings

  • Ensure that the printer is set as the default printer on your computer.
  • Verify that there are no print jobs stuck in the print queue.

Factory Reset

If none of the above steps work, you might need to perform a factory reset on your printer. Be aware that this will reset all settings to their defaults:

  • Go to the printer's settings menu.
  • Navigate to 'Restore Defaults' or 'Reset All Settings' and follow the on-screen instructions.

Check for Obstructions

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions that might be preventing it from printing correctly.

Printhead Replacement

If the issue persists, the printhead itself might be faulty and could require replacement.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the root cause of the problem and hopefully get your printer back to functioning correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
