I just replaced the Black cartridge with an HP 301XL. I get a message: "Black cartridge problem" I have tried taking it out and replacing it, I have tried the cleaning options on the printer. I have tried re-setting it. I have removed the new black cartridge and get the message "printing in single cartridge mode" When I print in this mode the paper fed through but came out blank. I have replaced the colour cartridge, but it still comes out blank.
Thank You.
Robbie

Hi Jeet,
Although the colour cartridge was showing half full I replaced it with a new one. It then started single cartridge printing.
I returned the B+W cartridge to the shop and got a replacement. The printer now works fine.
Thank you for your help and suggestions.
Regards.
Robbie.

Hi @Robbiesth,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I understand you are getting ink cartridge error on your HP printer. Don't worry I'll be really glad to help you with this.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you tried to check the print settings?
Have you tried to clean the ink cartridge contacts as well as the rollers?
This looks like a possible hardware failure with the ink cartridge, before you contact our HP phone support, I would suggest you try these steps here:
Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.
For more assistance, please follow all the steps suggested in the support document for -Ink Cartridge Errors
If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue. I would recommend you contact our HP phone support for further assistance.

Hi Robbie,
You're most welcome.
As @Jeet_singh is out of the office today, I'm replying to you. I'm glad to know that with a new cartridge the printer is working fine now. And hoe it stays that way.
Happy printing!
