Hi @skendrick ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the 50.2 fuser error on the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw indicates that the fuser unit, which heats up to fuse toner to paper, is not warming up as expected.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer completely and unplug it from the power outlet.
  • Wait for at least 10-15 minutes to let it cool down.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on to see if the error clears.

2. Check the Power Source

  • Ensure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet rather than a power strip or surge protector, as these may not provide adequate power.

3. Update Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check for any firmware updates for your printer model. HP often releases updates to fix common issues.
  • You can download firmware updates from the HP Support website.

4. Inspect the Fuser Unit

  • If you’re comfortable opening the printer, inspect the fuser for any visible issues like paper jams or debris.
  • Avoid touching the fuser itself as it may be hot.

5. Reset the Printer

  • A factory reset may help, but it will reset all settings to default. To perform a reset:
    • Go to the printer's control panel, select Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Note that a factory reset may require you to set up the printer again on your network.

6. Replace the Fuser Unit

  • If the error persists, the fuser unit might be damaged and could need replacement. You might need to contact HP Support or a certified technician to replace the fuser if it’s under warranty, as it can be a delicate process.

Let me know if any of these steps help resolve the error, or if you need more specific guidance on any of the steps!
