I just recently moved from Istanbul to Hong Kong, and brought along the printer I bought in Istanbul (HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4515 e-All-in-One (A9J41C), which uses hp 650 ink cartridge. According to HP catalog, this translates to hp 678 in Asia Pacific region or hp 670 in North America region, but no one sells hp 678 ink cartridge here. I also checked the HP online store and other online sellers, and could not find this cartridge.
Whilst browsing on amazon.com, I found that hp ink cartridge 61 is compatible with hp 670, and they sell hp 61 here in HK Does anyone know whether this is true? Can I use hp 61 ink cartridge in HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4515 eAIO?
Many thanks for your help, as I am simply running out of ideas and certainly do not want to invest on a brand new printer.

Hi,
Yes, you can see many images of ink cartridges look the same and when using an electonic device to measure (weight, lenght, width ...) you can say they are EXACTLY the same BUT, the chips in them are region coded, you can't use until HP reset as mentioned before. More info when chaging from one region to other region:

Hi,
You are right, printer uses HP 678 in Asia Pacific region BUT Hongkong may be belong to China now and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4515 is not available in this market (as shown on the bable) therefore no available ink.
Option: you can order inks from Istanbul for your printer until the end of its life OR call HP in Hongkong for help

BH,
Many thanks for the prompt response - much appreciated. To order the ink cartridge from Istanbul is probably a no-go option as it would probably going to cost as much as a brand new printer. I also browsed amazon.cn (Chinese site), and surrprisingly I found hp 678 being offered! I wonder whether amazon.cn ship to HK?
I am somehow still curious about hp 61 as from the images I found on the Internet, it looks very similar to hp 650.
Best regards,
