Yup, I just needed to know what version of OS X you are using in order to give you the specific instructions.
Make sure your printer is plugged into the router with an Ethernet cable and the printer is turned on. Now, reboot the router by unplugging power then plugging back in. Wait for it to reboot fully (about 60 seconds). Then:
- Go to the Apple menu (upper left of your screen) > System Preferences > Print & Fax.
- Click the "+" sign at the bottom of the white rectangle.
- Your Mac will find your printer and list it. Click it once and click the "Add" button once it becomes available.
Its just that easy.
Your printer is ready to use. Scan from it by using Preview or Image Capture apps (in your Applications folder). The scan button on the front of the printer does not work with 10.6.

Sure it is. Your router does not care how devices are connected, wired or wireless its all the same to the router. It will enable communication between them regardless.
You did not say what version of OS X you are using. Please advise.

It worked! Thank you very much! I am so excited...:smileyhappy: Thank you for taking the time to find and to address my issue. You really helped me, and I am grateful.
This one is not the solution. The prior message is the solution. This is my response to the solution.

I am on Mac 10.5.8 with a HP 6310 all-in-one that I am trying to connect wirelessly to my MacBook Air. Have tried your solution of ethernet cable to Time Capsule, rebooting the router, going to system preferences, selecting printer and turning on Printer Sharing. Still does not work. Can you help me?

I don't think I can help you with your question, but PrintDoc was one of the Top Kudoed authors who was able to guide me to the solution to my problem. I bet he or one of the other authors can help you with the solution. I am still getting familiar with my Mac.
Best of luck with the answer.

bonsimon,
Don't turn on print sharing, it is not needed.
Let's try this once your printer is connected with your Time Capsule.
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
This will reveal whether your printer is properly connected to your router. if it is not, unplug the printer's Ethernet cable, turn off the printer, unplug power from the back of the printer, wait 30 seconds, plug in and turn on. Retest. If the printer is not getting a valid IP address (i.e., not 0.0.0.0 or 169.254.x.x) there is something wrong with the printer.
If you get through this part, go to your Mac and reset the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
