Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

Hello,

my hp Officejet 5740 makes loud noise when pulling paper from the tray.  There is no paper jam nor there is any cartridge carrier jam.  Everything works fine but when it wants to pull paper from paper tray (specially after few days of rest) it makes a very loud noise which lasts for few sheets then slowly goes away but the same thing happens next time.

I believe it must be rollers that need oil but I tried unfortunately it didn't help.  I am thinking of opening it.

Anybody can help???

Thanks

Hi @Sasaan

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

yes, the issue could be with the paper pick rollers. If there is dust accumulated on these rollers, such issues occur.

Kindly perform step 2 from this document.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your MAC.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
