I have replaced new ink cartridges and yet the printer still won't print. When I select to print it starts to try and get the paper, makes a lot of noise and then stops and the warning light comes on and the paper icon in the small display comes on. Also when I try to scan the following message comes up 'failed to open a new connection to the device -21345'.

Any advice please?

@theboach, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Are you able to make photocopies on the printer? If yes, we'll first have to check the connectivity.

To be able to assist you better, I'd like to know the following-

  • How is the printer connected, USB/Wireless?
  • Is there any antivirus/security software installed on the computer?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hello, apologies for late response. I cannot make photocopies. Whenever I touch anything the orange warning light starts flickering. It starts like it is going to do something and then nothing. It is connected with a wireless originally USB and then I changed it. I am using a mac so, no anti-virus. Please can you help? It is very frustrating, it has been like this for a year now and I am on the verge of packing it up.

@theboach

This looks like a hardware issue.
