a frustrating problem - my printer stopped printing. its on my network, Windows sees it and can connect to it. if I try to print I get variously - error or driver is not available. I was previously working well. I've deleted and re-installed hp's windows app to no avail. is there a fix for this or am I missing something basic? grateful if anyone could shed some light. kind regards, shane

Thank you 8lives, I ran the program as you suggested but I'm afraid it didn't solve the problem. I think it might have something to do with windows update - but what do I know!

Many thanks for taking the time.

kind regards, Shane

Can you check the Windows system files by running sfc /scannow from a CMD admin prompt.

Delete the driver at root level and retry, follow the steps below:
Open Programs and features
Select your HP Printer
Select Uninstall
Search for and open Devices and printers
In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click Ok.
Click on the "Drivers" tab
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
Select Ok
Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
Close Devices and Printers
Reboot your computer

Reinstall the full HP driver file.

thank you again. I take it these are the instructions on how to delete at root level and then reinstall the driver. I followed the instructions but unfortunately am still unable to print. when I now sent a document to the printer, the action takes place, but is interrupted by an error message. so the driver seems to be OK and the problem seems to be related to spooling - that is if my reading of my ineffective attempts to resolve this are correct. thank you for your help in this. kind regards, shane
