I am using my hp deskjet printer to print an image to cut on a Cricut Explore One.  The image downloaded shows up on my laptop screen in the correct colors with the black lined border around the image (in the Cricut Explore One Print and Cut function).  However,  the image prints in the correct color but the black line border prints in a graysish color (the Cricut Explore One needs to see the lines in black with it's sensor to enable it to actually cut the image). I have to go over the lines with a thick, black Sharpie pen so the sensor will read the lines.  I have gone into my print functions and changed the black to vibrant.  It will print a word document with printed words in black but it won't print that line around the colored image in black even though the screen shows it in black.  I have replaced the color and black catridges with new cartridges (even though the cartridges that came with the printer were new they had an expiration date of 2010 - I bought the new, unused printer in the box on Craigslist from an electronic store).  Help!

Welcome to the HP Support Community

Could you please help me with the operating system of the computer?

Are you facing any issue while making a copy?

Try using a different browser and check if the issue persists?

Try printing a regular document and check how is the print quality.

However, I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
