I have a relatively new hp envy 5070. Will not print black ink. Will only print colors. I have put in a new hp cartridge, run the cleaning modes, removed and reinstalled the printer... no black in will print. I have unplugged and pluged back in. No black ink. I printed a test.. dont remember what it was called. It printed a red, yellow and blue solid small bar with black parenthesis around it and two black empty parenthesis on the same line. That is the only black I could get it to print. Please help me!

Hi @boopsie127,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already gone through a number of standard troubleshooting steps for your HP Envy 5070 printer issue. If it's still not printing black ink despite these efforts, here are a few additional steps you can try:
Check the Black Ink Nozzle:
- Print a Printer Status Report or a Print Quality Diagnostic page from your printer's control panel. This can help identify if the issue is with the black ink nozzle being clogged.
- If the black ink nozzle is clogged, the report may show gaps or the absence of black ink on the diagnostic patterns.
Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Remove the black ink cartridge.
- Use a clean, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and the contacts within the cartridge slot in the printer. Avoid touching the ink nozzles.
- Reinsert the cartridge, ensuring it clicks into place.
- Plug in and turn on the printer, then try printing again.
Align the Printer:
- After ensuring the ink cartridges are properly installed and the contacts are clean, perform an alignment of the ink cartridges from the printer's control panel.
Check the Printer Software:
- Ensure that the printer software on your computer is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates are released to fix known issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
