I have a really weird problem with my printer!
I wonder if anyone has had the same problem and resolved it?
When I try to print in colour, everything prints only in Black and White.
This only happens when I attempt to print anything wireless. The printer is connected to my network hub okay.
There is nothing wrong with the colour cartridge either, because when I connect it back to USB it prints in colour just fine?!
Seems to be something wrong with the wireless printer driver maybe? I have uninstalled and reinstalled but it does not resolve my monochrome printing problems!

Hello, @Timbo1963 – Hope you are well 🙂
Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
Going through your post, I see that you are facing issues while printing color when the machine is connected via the network. It certainly looks like an issue with the printer drivers. Please try the steps listed below to try and fix the issue:
- First, unplug the USB cable from the printer, if present.
- Go to Control Panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control Panel – Devices and Printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Restart your computer.
- Now, click HP ENVY 5546 All-in-One Printer to download and install the software.
- Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
- Restart the PC and check.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Good luck 🙂
