Hi @Sherri8359
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Error E5 on your HP ENVY 6455e typically indicates a scanner issue. Here are the steps to troubleshoot and fix this error:
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off your printer using the Power button.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the printer and turn it on.
Verify that the Scanner is Working:
- Try to use the scanner after power cycling the printer. Attempt to scan a document to see if the error persists.
Check for Any Physical Obstructions:
- Open the scanner lid and check for any obstructions or foreign objects on the glass.
- Make sure the scanner glass is clean and free from dust or smudges.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP Support website.
