Thank you for your help. I did all of the tasks you supplied. Some also sent from HP help desk.
Still black lines about 3.5" vertical on all copied pages. When I print pages it is fine...no lines.
As I open the top copy entrance for paper and clean rollers there is not a lot of room .
I've looked at all the rollers I can see and none have ink stains.
I put in a new black cartridge and found no mess behind the cartridge.
I cannot see where the ink touches the paper to cause the lines.
It is interesting how the paper loads in the top tray. pulled in to unit ,copied then changes direction
to exit the copy any exits the original under the paper loader on top.
Amazing technology to achieve this copy.
I hope this helps your challange to correct my problem. Any help is appreciated.

Hi @fredwoods,
Thank you for joining HP Forums.
This is a great place to get support, find answers
I understand that you are facing copy quality issue on the printer.
No worries, I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Is the printer connected directly to the wall outlet?
Are you facing this issue after an update?
Resetting the printer can force some types of scanners to calibrate which might fix the problem.
-
Remove any items from the scanner glass and automatic document feeder (ADF), then close the scanner lid.
-
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
-
Wait at least 60 seconds.
-
Plug the power cord back into a wall outlet.
-
Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
If the issue persists, click here for the further assistance.
Do get back to me as I have a few more tricks up my sleeve. Said that, if I have helped you resolve the issue.
