My HP laser jet computer won't connect to Wi-Fi so we bought a cord. The printer will print test page but nothing else. HELP! I'm about ready to return it to Best Buy.

You likely know the following - consider it review and information for those reading:

 

1)  When the two printers in this set were introduced for sale at the HP Store, there were to models - plain "w" and "we".

and

2)  The HP LaserJet MFP M140we Printer   Printer model was sold already subscribed to HP+ service .

Requirements for HP+ printers

 

This topic describes the requirements for HP+ printers.


Keep the printer connected to the Internet


HP+ printers are cloud-connected devices that must remain connected to the Internet in order to function. The
Internet connection enables the printer to deliver HP+ specific app features and firmware updates.


During setup, you must connect the printer to the Internet using a supported network connection. After setup,
you can print using a USB cable connection, if desired, but the printer must still be connected to the Internet.


Use Original HP cartridges


Original HP cartridges are cartridges manufactured and sold by HP in official HP packaging. If non-Original HP
supplies or refilled cartridges are installed, HP+ printers will not operate as expected.


Have an HP account


Create or sign into an HP account to manage your printer.

The good news is that HP+ comes with benefits as well as the requirements.

 

Can't get printer connected?

Do this:

Contact HP+ Support -- if needful, wait for regular work days / hours.

 

What if?

If needful, and nothing else works, you can -- during work days / hours -- contact Instant Ink Support.

True - two different services -- each service knows about the other one.

 

Reminder

Unless you want to do so, you do NOT, not have to subscribe to Instant Ink.

You must use HP genuine ink cartridges - the ink does NOT have to be tied to a subscription to Instant Ink

Note that HP+ assistance is only available for registered HP+ printers.
