Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. My hp laserjet m111w resets itself to factory settings without any reasons. I can setup it and it works. But after few days it just reset itself to factory settings. Its possible to setup it again, but its hard to make setup every few days.

Factory defect or something could be done?

Hi @theduna,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Check Firmware Updates

  • Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can often resolve issues like these.
    • Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
    • Search for your printer model and download the latest firmware.
    • Follow the instructions to update your printer’s firmware.

2. Check Power Supply

  • Stable Power Supply: Ensure that your printer is connected to a stable power supply. Electrical issues or fluctuations can sometimes cause resets.
  • Use a UPS: Consider using an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to provide a stable power source.

3. Disable Auto Reset Settings (if applicable)

  • Printer Settings: Check if there is any setting within the printer’s menu that could be causing automatic resets. This includes checking for any scheduled maintenance or auto-reset features and disabling them if necessary.

4. Network Configuration

  • Network Issues: Sometimes network configurations can cause issues. Ensure your network settings are correctly configured, and try to use a static IP address for the printer if it's connected to a network.

5. Factory Reset Manual Check

  • Accidental Reset: Verify if accidental factory resets are being triggered by pressing buttons involuntarily. Ensure neither of the buttons on the printer is stuck or malfunctioning.

6. HP Support Assistant

  • Use HP Support Assistant: Run HP Support Assistant to check for updates and troubleshoot the issue.
    • Install HP Support Assistant from HP Support Assistant.
    • Use it to check for system updates and potential issues.

I hope this helps.
