Hi @thomasfamily9,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When using transfer paper or iron-on paper with a printer, it's important to check whether the specific type of paper is compatible with your HP OfficeJet 8020 Printer.

Different printers may have varying specifications for the types of paper they support.

Check Printer Compatibility: Verify that the transfer paper you're using is suitable for use with inkjet printers, and specifically, with your HP OfficeJet 8020 model. You can check the compatible media type in the link here. Click Here

I have shared the compatible media types:

Plain Paper, HP Photo Papers, HP Matte Brochure or Professional Paper, HP Matte Presentation Paper, HP Glossy Brochure or Professional Paper, Other Photo Inkjet Papers, Other Matte Inkjet Papers, Other Glossy Inkjet Papers, Thick Plain Paper, Light/Recycled Plain Paper, HP Tri-fold Brochure Paper, Glossy.

If the transfer paper is not mentioned in the above list, you might not be able to use it.

Adjust Printer Settings: Make sure you've selected the appropriate paper type in your printer settings. This can often be done through the printer driver or settings on your computer.

Quality Settings: Adjust the print quality settings to match the recommendations provided by the transfer paper manufacturer. This can affect the saturation and resolution of the printed image.

Test Print: Before printing on the actual transfer paper, do a test print on regular paper to ensure the colors and layout appear as expected. This can help you avoid wasting the transfer paper.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
