@maryport1, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8134e All-in-One Printer is showing a printhead problem despite being nearly new and lightly used, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Check the Ink Cartridges
- Open the printer and ensure all cartridges are properly seated.
- Remove and reinsert each cartridge to ensure good contact.
- Make sure you're using original HP cartridges—non-HP or refilled cartridges can cause issues.
Clean the Printhead Contacts
- Power off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the access door and gently remove the printhead.
- Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the copper-colored contacts on the printhead and inside the printer.
- Let everything dry for 10 minutes before reinserting.
Update Firmware
- Go to the HP Support page.
- Download and install the latest firmware and software updates.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool.
- It can automatically detect and fix many common printing issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
