Hi @Annabm,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Restart Printer:
- Turn off your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 printer by pressing the power button.
- Unplug the power cord from the printer and wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
Restart Computer:
- Restart the computer connected to the printer to refresh the connection between the devices.
Restart Router:
- If your printer is connected through a network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), try restarting your router to ensure there are no network connectivity issues.
Wi-Fi Connection:
- Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to the wireless settings to verify the connection status.
USB Connection:
- If using a USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected to both your printer and your computer.
- Try using a different USB port on your computer.
Ethernet Connection:
- For an Ethernet setup, ensure the Ethernet cable is properly connected to both your printer and the router or switch.
Set Printer as Default:
- Ensure your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 is set as the default printer.
- On Windows, go to "Devices and Printers" in the Control Panel, right-click on your printer, and select "Set as default printer."
Clear Print Queue:
- Clear any pending print jobs that may be causing the issue.
- On Windows, open "Devices and Printers," right-click on your printer, and select "See what's printing." Cancel all print jobs in the queue.
Reinstall Print Driver:
- Uninstall the current printer driver and reinstall the latest version from the HP website.
- Go to the HP Support page and download the latest driver for your printer model.
Disable Firewall/Antivirus:
- Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer to check if they are blocking the printer connection.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to automatically diagnose and resolve printer issues.
I hope this helps.
