Hi, thanks for your reply. 🙂

As @A4Apollo is out of the office today, I'd like to help you.

I read that your HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One Printer appears to be in error state when you try to print. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Is the printer able to make a copy? If yes, it indicates that the printer hard is good.

I suggest you to uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them using the below steps:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.

Once you perform the above steps, please download and install them this link

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know what happens. Cheers! 🙂

Thank you so much!!!!!!

Apparently I lied. I went to print and email and it says it "Unable to communicate with printer" even tho everything looks to be connected. 😞

@Coolman722, I was indeed waiting for your response, thanks for getting back to us.

Thanks for trying out the steps.

As you mentioned you are getting error Unable to communicate with the printer, Please try the steps recommended below.

1. Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off' is disabled.  Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the
printers IP address in your browser, Settings Tab/Auto-Off.  Or use the Printer Assistant, Printer Home
    Page (EWS).
2. Set a static IP in the printer outside the DHCP range of the router.

In the router:

3. Use a fixed wireless channel like 1,6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.
4. Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on the router.
5. Always use WPA2-AES (Personal) encryption, but you can try ‘mixed’ mode.
6. For the routers security, disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP so nobody can hack your
system (if you want to know why search the web).
7. If you have a dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID’s are NOT the same,
they must be different for all bands, even for any Guest networks.
8. Save all settings.  Power off both, wait 5 mins.  Power on router wait 3 mins.
9. Power on the printer and verify it reconnects to the router.

Let me know how it goes!

Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂

Thank you for the new information. I am having trouble locating the EWS/Auto-Off buttons. I found the Settings button but didn't see the other.

Thank you in advance and again, I apprecite your time.

@Coolman722, It's great to hear from you again. I was much awaiting for your response.

Kudos to you for trying out the steps.

As you mentioned you are unable to find auto-off in EWS page.

Please try the steps recommended below.

1. In your web browser’s address field, enter your device’s IP address (for example, http://198.168.1.1; this can be located by printing a configuration page).

2. Select the System Tab.

3. Select the PowerSave Setup sub-menu on the left side of the page. This displays the Power Console page shown at left.

4. Set your Sleep, Auto-On, and Auto-Off preferences.

And did you try the settings recommended to change in the router?

Please try the steps recommended in my previous post and let me know if it helps.

Have a great day ahead! 🙂

I turned the printer and PC off. I unplugged the router and modem. turned everything back on. Printer says connected. It was on channel 6 and it printed the stats pages of the printer. Then all of a sudden it said "No connection". Now when I type in the IP address it says " Connection Error". I click on the "HP Network Check" button and it comes back with no issues.

Is this my internet having issues or my devices? I'm about ready to give up. 😞

@Coolman722, It's great to hear from you again. I was very much waiting for your response.

I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.

It looks like an issue with the router. Have you contacted your internet service provider changed the settings recommended in my previous thread?

If you are using a dual band router and if it running on 5Ghz change it to the 2.4Ghz channel and check if it helps.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Take Care! 🙂
