Try the following steps and see if that helps-

1.) Disable Auto-Off feature.

2.) Sleep mode setting to be set to Max, or Off.

3.) Check for Schedule On/Off feature.

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Assign manual IP to the printer

The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.

For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers

Note - Static IP needs to be set up outside the DHCP range- Since the default DHCP address range is between 100 and 149, you'll want to avoid all of the addresses between 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.149 when you're assigning static IP addresses. That leaves the ranges from 2-99 and from 150-254 wide open, which is usually plenty for most home networks.

Refer to the User Guide for any additional help.

Doesn't work.  Another interesting thing.  The printer was sleeping so I touched the screen.  It woke up and then continued to connect to WiFi.  It took almost 3 minutes for it to connect.  But when I went to my PC and settings, clicked on the printer and it stated that the printer is off line. A job I had in the que would not print.  I deleted the job and printed again, did not print. I then decided to turn off the printer.  It would not turn off.  I had to unplug it to turn it off.  Plugged it back in and it printed.

I just replaced this printer as there was a great deal on the HP website for a new printer.  $47.00 so I bought it and don't need a solution to my problem on the 7520

Is HP aware that many people have the "won't wake up" problem with this printer? Something is fundementally flawed and has escaped HP's ability to make this printer work right. Always, always have to unplug/plug in to get it to work right. I went deep into settings per instructions online and turned off sleep, power off and all similar settings. Stays on all the time, but unreachable. Tried both USB and wireless.

The other clue is that after some hours, it hangs on power off -- screen just shows "shutting down" message with spinning icon forever.

Convince you know how to make this printer work right...

Hi @GFR27

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Have you tried updating the printer firmware and assigning a static IP address to the printer as mentioned in one of the posts by a HP representative to check if the issue persists?

Keep me posted for further assistance.
