HP PSC 2510 Photosmart All-in-One Printer

I have had this printer for many years. For the last few years if power is lost, when the power resumes, the printer gets hung during start-up when the ink toner carriage is initialized. Rather than checking the carriage briefly as it normally does, the carriage check repeats. When that happened, I would unplug the printer and press the power button a few times to clear any current left in the printer. I would then leave it unplugged for awhile. When I plugged the printer back in, it would restart normally.

All this change recently when I sent a document to the printer and the display screen went blue with the message "cycle power." I unplugged the printer and when I plugged it back in it got hung during restart as it tends to do. Only this time I have not been able to get it to restart normally, no matter what I have tried.

I read a post that recommended pressing and holding the Cancel and OK buttons together while plugging the printer in. I tried this and got a blue screen with the message "deriv. cleared. power off. Again when I power of and back on, the printer gets hung in restart.

Any help is appreciated.
