I have an old iMac (2010) running the latest OS and an Envy Printer which has all the latest firmware. Yesterday there was an issue with the Instant ink cartridges which necessitated me shutting down the printer. I have sorted that problem but now my Mac wont connect to the printer even though apparently the printer is connected to my wifi and my iPhone and iPad have no issue sending it print jobs.
My router (Hyperoptic ZTE Hyperhub) is on 2 bands (2.5 and 5GHz) and I tried a ping test for the printer and the result was 'ping cannot resolve 192.1.168.105: unknown host'
Please advise

Hi guys-many thanks for your help but I have found a solution and that was to delete the printers from preferences. When I went in there were 2 printers listed for my Envy 5000. One had an amber light and the other was green. I deleted the amber one and hey presto the Mac is now printing fine
Thanks for your help

@mambaman, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
It seems like the printer and the MAC are not communicating with each other.
- Check if the MAC is connected to 2.4GHz wireless network.
- This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. Both the devices should be on the same network to communicate with each other.
- The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold the option key on your keyboard and click the WiFi icon to get detailed information.
- You can press and hold option-click the WiFi icon and then use shift-command-5 to take the screenshot and share it in your next post. Press the space bar when the icon turns into a camera.
- Once confirmed, run the PING test again. there should be 0% loss.
Let me know how this goes.

Tap on the wireless icon at the bottom of the printer screen to check to which network is the printer connected to.
You may also try connecting the MAC to '7EQ4 Hyperoptic 1Gb Fibre 2.4Ghz' and check if it works.
If that does not help, try restarting the network devices.
- Turn off the Router, Printer, and the computer/ mobile devices.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize.
- Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself.
- Turn on the computer/ mobile devices.
Keep me posted.

Ok I have already tried restarting all appliances-no joy
The 7EQ4 Hyperoptic network belongs to someone else in my flats so I clearly cant connect to that
Please see attached printer info re Wifi it is connected to:

I suggest you restore the Network Settings back to Factory on your Printer
1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch ( Settings ).
2. Touch Restore Network Settings, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
3. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.
Next run the wireless setup wizard again to connect the printer back to your wireless Router
1. On the printer control panel display, from the Home screen, touch ( Wireless ).
2. Touch ( Settings ).
3. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
4. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.
Please check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.
Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.
Perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by touching the wireless icon on the printer display or by printing a Network Configuration Page
Keep me posted 😋
