ink cartridge incompatible but compatible on the box.

I needed to replace my ink cartridges always using HP 655.  This was not available at Office Depot.  I checked the ink cartridges available and found HP 564 which showed compatibility with my printer 5525. cartridges fitted perfectly but when I went to print it says the cartridges are incompatible.  what do I need to do to get the printer to accept the ink cartidges.    OR  what other cartridges are compatible with my printer.

The ink cartridges are sold by region of the world, you can't buy a printer in the US and buy ink cartridges from EU and make them work.

HP 655 cartridges are for European region market, I assumed you bought your printer somewhere outside US?

HP 564 cartridges are for US region.

If you have moved from one region to another ( or bought printer from a different sale region) you will need to contact HP they can make magic and make your printer accept local ink cartridges:

Hi,

HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 5525 and HP Photosmart 5525 are different printers, uses different ink cartridges.

The Deskjet Ink Advantage series is only marketed at selected markets, not available in North America, as a such it does not have any compatible cartridges in North America as listed by below document:

Please clarify what country are you from to get a better understanding of any compatible cartridges available at the local market.
