The document here says there was no HP driver provided for Windows 7 for the Scanjet 5400c.  There is a mention of third party alternatives in the document here.  I have not used either myself but have heard good things about VueScan.  I checked the long list of supported devices and the Scanjet 5400c is listed.

Me too heard about scan view.

But I thought there is a hp software directly.

Pity considering that my scanner is still new and functional, but driver for windows 7 is no longer available, yet 7 is not so far from xp.

But hey, thanks again for your help.
