Hello all. I would like some opinions about whether my HP Office Jet Pro L7590 is too old to use. I can't find the ink cartridges anywhere (I haven't tried HP direct yet). My wife is of the opinion that if you buy something and put it away as a some day backup device its a sound idea. We've had this printer in our closet for years and although it seems OK I'd like some opinions about whether to bother or get a new one. I don't know if it is wireless. I don't think so since it says ethernet all over the place. If I can even find ink do you think its a waste trying to use old technology these days. Thank you.

Printer was introduced in early 2008.  This is an old printer.  Smiling.

HP SureSupply

Checked for the ink - seems to be in stock and ready to ship.
Please double check to be sure I did not mistype something...

Open the website, enter the name of your printer (HP Officejet Pro L7590) or the name of the ink cartridges

Bluetooth: using optional Bluetooth wireless printer adapter (L7500, L7600, and L7700 series only)

Ethernet does not equal wireless.
Looks like the printer might support an optional Bluetooth wireless adapter.

If you can get it to work, the printer might be worth using if only because it still provides the Full Feature Software for your older Mac OS.  (This version of Mac OS may -- or may NOT -- be supported in newer printers.)

Click Change > Enter Mac OS (in the left column) and the Version (in the right column)
Take a look at the "Update", too.

Personal Opinion
If you can update your Mac computer hardware, then your best option is to consider doing that - and purchase a fancy, new, shiny, printer with all the latest technology.
