Hi @craighdc,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printing jobs are defaulting to paused, check the printer settings for a "Pause Printing" option,

1. Check Printer Settings:

  • Check for "Pause Printing" Option: Go to your computer's Devices and Printers (or Printers & Scanners), right-click your HP printer icon, select "See what's printing", then click "Printer". Look for a "Pause Printing" or similar option and uncheck it if it's selected.

  • Check Printer Control Panel: If you have a touchscreen control panel on your printer, navigate to the settings and check for any pause or offline options.

  • Check for a Pause Button: Some printers have a physical pause button on the control panel.

2. Clear the Print Queue:

  • Go to Devices and Printers (or Printers & Scanners): Select your HP printer, then click "See what's printing".

  • Cancel Stuck Jobs: If there are any jobs listed as paused or stuck, cancel them.

  • Clear the Queue: If you can't cancel jobs, try clearing the print queue by restarting the print spooler service on your computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
