My printer is taking ages to spool a job, it has now printed/half printed the same document 37 times but there are no jobs in the queue and I've used up all my printingplan!!

I've tried uninstalling and redoing, tried the smart support, virtual support and self support, obv switching on and off - I'm certainly no techie but this is driving me mad.

Hi @John363054,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that your printer keeps printing the same document and there are no visible jobs in the queue, it appears there might be a stuck job causing the issue. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Cancel Jobs Directly on Printer

  • Use the printer’s control panel to cancel all jobs.
  • Some HP models have a “Cancel” or “Stop” button that clears memory.

Clear the Print Spooler Service

  • On Windows (if you connect via PC at times):
  • Press Win + R, type services.msc.
  • Find Print Spooler, right-click → Stop.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files.
  • Restart the spooler service.

Check Printer Memory

  • Some printers store jobs internally. If memory is full or corrupted, they can keep reprinting.
  • Look for a “Job Storage” or “Stored Jobs” menu on the printer and delete any saved jobs.

Update Firmware

  • Use the HP Smart app to check for firmware updates.
  • Outdated firmware can cause spooling glitches.

Reset Printer Settings

  • Perform a factory reset from the printer’s settings menu.
  • This clears any hidden stuck jobs or corrupted configurations.

Reinstall Printer on Devices

  • Remove the printer from your phone’s HP Smart app.
  • Re-add it fresh to ensure no cached jobs are being resent.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!
