HP LaserJet Pro 400 Printer M401n

Earlier today I had and cleared a paper jam. When I re-inserted the toner cartridge I received a "jam in cartridge area" notification. I have done the normal restart, and even re-installed the installation/driver package. I am still receiving the notification. I even cleaned the rollers.

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Hello Jmorris54,

We recommend the following:

  • Make sure the jammed paper was removed completely, as sometimes if it rips apart some residual pieces could be causing the problem.
  • Make sure your printer is plugged directly to the power outlet.
  • If your printer is network connected, you can log into the printer's Embedded Web Server by putting the printer's IP into any browser on your computer and look under Reports> Event log for any codes. If you see any events with their codes you can check online for solutions.
  • You can perform a power drain: turn the printer off, unplug all cables (USB, ethernet and power), then keep the Power button pressed for about 60 seconds. After that you turn the printer on and check for any error still being disconnected from USB and ethernet.
  • Make sure your unit has the latest Firmware version installed.

If you still face problems after checking these details, we recommend to take your printer to a Certified Service Center for inspection, as it could potentially have some physical damage is not apparent for you at this moment.

Anders the power drain worked!!!! I wish I had known that before ordering another printer from you guys. No worries, I'll give the old one to my paralegal.
