Utterly disappointed and very confused. Just purchased a new HP printer and put the cartridges in that came with the printer. After 20 colored copies, it’s saying I have ran out of ink.  Put in new ones and 15 copies in, it’s saying I’ve used half. HP ink is expensive, if I print 15 more copies and it says I’m out… I’m going to be returning. My settings are on normal and are on the most eco ink friendly settings… I feel as though I’m getting ripped off! Send help… or a lot more ink. At this rate I’m going to be broke.

Hi @Gracedeseve,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your new Printer that is low on ink.

SETUP ink cartridges are used only to set up a new HP printer or printhead and supply ink for the first series of your print jobs. They are specially designed to initialize a printer and calibrate ink levels.

When a SETUP ink cartridge is depleted, purchase and use a normal ink cartridge that matches your printer model to continue printing.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
