Hi,
I bought this printer for my wife; but after changing the original cartridges we can't get it to print. The printer makes noises to show that it is printing but no ink comes out on the black setting and on the colour setting we get a few blue lines.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Are you able to make a copy? Do you get any error message? If you have another set of cartridges, do insert that to test if the new cartridges that are inside the Printer, are defective or not.
Print a Print Quality Diagnostic page:
-
On the control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup
icon.
-
Swipe up on the display, touch Reports, and then touch Print Quality Report.
A Print Quality Diagnostic page prints.
Let me know if you see the black and the colours well.
Clean the ink cartridges:
-
On the control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup
icon.
-
Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.
-
Touch Clean Cartridges, and then touch Continue.
-
If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Clean Again to continue the next level of cleaning. Repeat these steps for the third cleaning stage, if necessary.
-
If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.
If the issue persists, please perform the remaining steps from this document: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-photo-7100-all-in-one-printer-series/9073119/model/1649...
Let me know if this helps.
