photosmart 7520

My 7520 is giving me a message that says: "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists contact HP."

It was printing fine, but then it looked like it was getting low on ink. The black started turning gray and streaked. I replaced all of the ink cartridges. NOTE - i ALWAYS use HP ink cartridges, new out of the box. I followed your step by step instructions on the site but it seems to be moot since i have tried everything. I will be so pissed if i just spent $70 on new HP ink to put into this printer and it's taken a dive. Please suggest options. i really do need to get this printing again, am on a deadline.

i am working with a MAC system OSX El Capitan

Hi ,

i would suggest you you to remove the cartridges from printer

Restart the printer without cartridges. It should startup and show missing ink.

now install black first and see any other error.

if not, restart the printer and do the same for rest of inks

it resolve the problem or help to identify the faulty

hope it helps

Hi, Prabaa,

sadly, this is not the solution. I tried it this morning.  i am not sure what to do next. Do you happen to have a phone number for me to call? HP makes damned sure that nobody can reach them by phone.

I am so pissed about this - yet ANOTHER problem with this printer -- i am ready to go back to my most dependable brand, Epson.  Truly i have never had this kind of problem with that brand. After all the years i had HP printers (one of my old BW lasterjets is STILL running at the nonprofit i gave it to and it's well over 16 years old) this one is convincing me that it's just too hinkey to be a useful piece of equipement.

Between that and the fact that i cannot find a frikkin'  phone number for customer care, i am more than annoyed. And very, very inconvenienced considering i do need a printer to make my living.

Woah now. Wait a minute. I had given up on the printer and it's been sitting idle for a few hours. With that message showing. And now, out of th blue, i did another restart and it is working. I am glad but it's kind of strange too. I mean, i spent hours with it yesterday after installing the new ink. And then this morning i did exactly what you suggested and it was still not working.

So now -- for some reason, i restarted after it sat idle and it is working. hmmm

So i thank you Prabaa. i guess you figured it out and the printer just had to catch up with you.
