@OregonJimmy, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP ENVY 5052 All-in-One Printer is showing a message to set up the scanner on your HP All-in-One computer, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Connect Your Printer:

  • Ensure that your HP ENVY 5052 printer is properly connected to your HP All-in-One computer via USB or Wi-Fi.

Install HP Printer Software:

  • Make sure you have the latest HP printer software installed on your computer. If you haven’t installed it yet, go to HP Driver and Software Downloads to get the necessary software for your printer model.

Enable Scan Functionality Using HP Software:

  • Open the HP Printer Assistant software on your computer. This software helps manage printing and scanning functionalities.
  • If you don’t have it installed, you can use the HP Smart app downloadable from the Microsoft Store.

Set Up Scanning:

  • In the HP Printer Assistant, navigate to the Scan section.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to finalize the scanning setup.

Testing Scan Functionality:

  • Once the setup is complete, place a document on the scanner bed and attempt to scan using the HP Printer Assistant or HP Smart app.

Troubleshooting Tips

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure that both your computer and the printer have updated drivers. Regular updates can fix compatibility issues.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both the printer and the computer to refresh their connections.

Check Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is correctly connected to the network if using Wi-Fi or directly to the computer if using USB.
