HP Deskjet 3720

I tried to refill my ink cartridge at home and i put it back into the printer and it still said it was empty. So i went and bought brand new cartridges and put them into the printer and it said the black one was full, but the colored one was still empty, after a few seconds of it flashing the ink low light, the whole printer then started to blink every light, and the E was flashing and the wifi symbol, the wifi direct symbol, and the paper  empty symbol. I reset the printer, and now it stil is saying that the color cartridge is empty.

@Lona0-8,

A warm welcome to the HP support forums and a good day to you. I have reviewed the case and will be delighted to assist you here. I see that you've visited us for the first time and I will try to make it a pleasurable experiece for you. Let's work as a team to get to the bottom of things. Great diagnosis of the issue. kudos to you for that. 🙂

  • Was there a power outage or surge before this happened?
  • Did you check the pattern of these blinking lights

It looks like a hardware issue with the printer. Let's try these steps now:

Then from this link: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-deskjet-3700-all-in-one-printer-series/8954253/model/8954254... (HP DeskJet 3700 Printers - Blinking Lights) perform all the troubleshooting steps based on the blinking lights pattern. This should fix the issue as long as the printer's hardware is not faulty.

Otherwise, the printer needs to be replaced. I am being honest about it here by keeping your best interest in mind without beating around the bush. I will send you a private message to assist you with the next course of action. Check your forum private message box in the upper right corner next to the bell icon.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

@Lona0-8,

I read the post and thanks for the quick response. your efforts and patience are greatly appreciated. It looks like the carriage is jammed.

  • Are you able to move the carriage back and forth manually? (not the cartridge)

It is a hardware issue with the printer. Please try performing all relevant steps from this link:https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-deskjet-3700-all-in-one-printer-series/8954253/model/8954254... (HP DeskJet 3700 Printers - 'E3' Error Displays (Carriage Jam)

Now check if the issue gets resolved.

If the issue continues, then the printer needs to be replaced. I am being honest about it here by keeping your best interest in mind without beating around the bush.
