I just reinstalled HP Smart for my HP deskject 2621 printer today. The status shows it is ready and I have recently gotten new ink cartridges. However when I try to print a PDF document from my desktop it hangs when a prompt box with the message "checking printer status" appears. When I close the box the print document gets cancelled. What can I do to rectify this issue?

Hi @SGWinniethePooh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix the issue.

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

If your printer is not on the list, turn it off and on and then click Retry.

If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

Try to print.

You can refer to this HP document for more assistance:- Click here

If that does not help, try the following:

1) From the printer control panel, press the Wireless button and the Information button together to print the network configuration page.

2) Find out the IP address or hostname of the printer from the network configuration page.

I hope that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an Accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
