Hi @Delasha2 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the flashing orange (amber) light on your HP ENVY Pro 6400 All-in-One Printer typically indicates an error or problem that needs attention. Since you've confirmed that there is no paper jam and the cartridges are fine, the issue could be related to one of the following:

1. Paper Tray or Paper Issue:

  • Paper alignment: Ensure the paper is properly loaded in the tray and not misaligned.
  • Paper size setting: Check that the paper size setting in the printer software matches the paper loaded in the tray.
  • Paper sensor issue: If the paper sensor isn't detecting the paper correctly, try removing the paper, powering off the printer, and then reloading the paper after turning it back on.

2. Cartridge Problem:

  • Even though the cartridge seems fine visually, ensure that it is fully seated in the correct position. Remove and reseat the cartridge to be sure.
  • Check for any tape or protective covers that might still be on the cartridge contacts.

3. Firmware or Software Issue: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Printer reset: Turn off the printer, unplug it for at least 1-2 minutes, and then power it back on to reset any temporary errors.
  • Update firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can update it via the HP Smart app or by downloading the firmware from the HP Support website.

4. Wi-Fi or Connectivity Issue:

  • Sometimes, flashing lights can indicate a connectivity issue. Ensure that the printer is properly connected to Wi-Fi or your computer.

5. HP Smart App Check:

  • If you're using the HP Smart app, it may provide more details on the error. Open the app and check for any specific error messages or troubleshooting tips.
