@Sheppard03, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue with your HP Smart Tank 7301 All-in-One printer, based on the symptoms you've described:

  • Flashing cartridge icon: Indicates a problem with one or more ink cartridges or printheads.
  • Flashing fault (attention) light: Signals a general error that needs attention.
  • Printer offline: Cannot communicate with the computer, possibly due to network or driver issues.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

Check the Cartridge and Printhead Status

  • Open the printer’s front access door.
  • Ensure all ink tanks are filled to the correct level.
  • Check if the printheads are properly installed. Remove and reseat them if necessary.
  • Clean the printhead contacts gently with a lint-free cloth.
  • If the cartridge icon continues to flash, it may indicate a defective printhead.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This can sometimes clear temporary errors.

Reconnect the Printer to the Network

Since the computer is offline:

  • Connect the printer to Wi-Fi using the control panel:
    • Press and hold the Wi-Fi and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds to reset the network settings.
    • Use the HP Smart app on a mobile device to reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi.

Install/Reinstall Printer Software

Once the printer is online:

  • On your computer, go to the HP Support page.
  • Search for HP Smart Tank 7301 and download the latest drivers and HP Smart app.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
