Product: HP Officejet pro 6978

Opened new HP 902 xl black ink cartridge and nothing is coming out.  The printer said it was installed.  The colored cartridges still print, but nothing from the new black cartridge.  I took off the plastic outer piece and twisted the orange piece off.  The ink is not out of date although it was purchased 10 months ago.  Help, please!
