Printer had been printing correctly, then next job did not print. Power and ky lights flash. I thought that indicated a printhead problem so I replaced the ky printhead. I cycled the power several times including pulling the plug. This did not fix the problem. I welcome any suggestions.

Hi @tubbydawg,

We might be able to recover the printer from the printhead error, by power resetting the printer and manually cleaning the printhead and inside the printhead holder.

Here is how to do it:

  1. Open the top cover of the product.

  2. Press and hold the Resume button for three seconds. The carriage moves to the left side of the product and stops. Release the Resume button.

  3. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent.

  4. Lift the printhead latch.

  5. Lift the handle on the printhead that the error message indicates is missing or damaged, and then pull the printhead out of its slot.

Figure : Lift the handle and remove the printhead

  6. Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)

  7. Use a dry, soft, lint-free cloth to remove any ink from the electrical contacts on the printhead.

       CAUTION:

Wipe only the electrical contacts. Wiping the ink nozzles, located on the underside of the printhead, can damage the printhead.

Do not touch the nozzles. Doing so permanently damages the ink nozzles, and the ink stains clothing.

    1. Electrical contacts

    2. Ink nozzles

  8. Wipe the electrical contacts with the swab until no ink residue remains, and then wipe the electrical contacts with a fresh cloth to dry them and remove lint.

  9. After the electrical contacts on the printhead are clean and dry, place the printhead on a sheet of paper or a paper towel. Make sure that the ink nozzles face up and do not touch the paper.

  10. Use a fresh, dry, soft, lint-free cloth to clean the electrical contacts inside the product.

  11. Allow at least five minutes for the contacts to dry. Check the contacts for lint or debris, and then dry or clean the contacts again if needed.

  12. Plug the power cord back into the printer

  13. Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install printheads.

Let me know how it goes!

Thaks for your reply, but that did not fix the problem. Replacing the printhead did not work either.
