@Sofuenf, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Resolving the Issue of the Orange Lamp on HP Envy 6000 Printer

If the orange lamp on your HP Envy 6000 printer is always on, indicating that the paper tray is open despite it being correctly closed, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check for Debris or Obstructions: Make sure there is nothing blocking the paper tray or inside the printer that could be triggering the sensor. Sometimes small bits of paper or other debris can cause issues.

Inspect the Paper Tray:

  • Open the paper tray completely and then close it again, ensuring that it is pushed in all the way and latched properly.
  • Double-check the alignment and positioning of the paper in the tray. Make sure it meets the width and length guides correctly.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and into the printer.
  • Turn the printer on and check if the issue is resolved.

Run HP Smart:

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Also, I suggest you refer to this guide: HP DeskJet, ENVY 6000, 6400 - Blinking lights and error codes | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
