In printing a 4" X 6" photo paper the F4500 desk-jet printer accepted it but it didn't discharge it.  I have been unable t retrieve the paper and the printer is in a jam mode, unable to use otherwise.  Can you help?

Hi @David1006,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Sure, I can help you with that paper jam issue in your F4500 Deskjet printer. Here’s a step-by-step guide to safely remove the jammed photo paper:

Turn Off the Printer: Ensure the printer is turned off and unplugged to avoid any risk of electric shock or damage to the printer.

Open the Access Doors: Start by opening the printer’s rear access door or the front access panel, depending on your printer model. This is where most paper jams occur.

Locate and Remove the Jammed Paper: Carefully pull out the jammed paper. Try to remove the paper in one piece to avoid leaving any small bits inside. If the paper tears, ensure you remove all fragments. Pull slowly and gently to avoid damaging the printer's internal mechanisms.

Check for Additional Paper Fragments: Ensure there are no scraps of paper left inside the printer. Check other accessible areas where paper might get stuck, like the input tray or under the print carriage.

Close the Access Doors: Once you’re sure all jammed paper is removed, close any open doors or panels.

Reconnect and Power On the Printer: Plug in the printer and turn it on. Watch to see if it goes through its normal startup routine without indicating a jam.

Run a Test Print: Send a test page to print. This helps verify that the issue is resolved and the printer is functioning normally again.

Check Printer Rollers: If jams recur, there might be an issue with the rollers. They can get dirty or worn out. Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water. Avoid using too much moisture.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
