Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The printer rejects actual page size 3"x6". Declaring 4"x6" paper while inserting 3"x6" checks feeds properly, whether I use the main tray or the photo tray. The checks feed narrow-end first in Landscape. But the driver software does not locate the text consistently from check to check. I get the same inconsistency using ADVANCE codes in either MS Word or Corel Word Perfect. Fields print too near or far from the top of the check (and erratically, in the expected place). They print correctly with respect to the left edge of the check.

I'm about ready to junk this printer for a Canon (My 12-tear old Canon printed them perfectly every time).

I am able to print a 3" slice of a spreadsheet on a 3"x6" paper strip on landscape, 4x6" nominal paper with these restrictions: The printer redirects 4x6" paper size in the Main tray to the Photo tray. The printer replaces plain paper in the Photo tray with HP Advanced Photo Paper, but prints on plain paper anyway. The Top margin must be 1/2" and Bottom margin 0" for proper placement of the printout. Using 1/2" bottom margin seems intuitive to match a 3" strip to 4" nominal size, but it does not print correctly. Use 0" bottom margin.

DavidSMP: Link 2 of your comment included many references to check-writing software based on spreadsheets like Excel, an option I had not considered. It will take some time for me to build a template, but I can see how the printer drivers in spreadsheet software would enforce the placement of fields better than word processors do. I'll reply again when I have tested my template. Thank you for a comprehensive replay that offered different levels of help. Happy Holidays.

Hi @DavidVP216,

So at this point in time, I have done all my research and you've done your bit of copious research and working on templates too. 🙂

Does it work with the tweaks to change the paper settings and print on plain paper? If so,

then you may need to continue doing it this way on plain paper, though.
