Hi @donk7391
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thank you for sharing that—and I’m truly sorry you’re facing this issue. When your HP DeskJet 2755e displays an “E” on the screen, especially with blinking lights, it typically signals a cartridge or setup-related error.
Let’s walk through a few focused steps to help restore normal operation:
1. Perform a Power Reset
This clears temporary faults and resets the printer’s internal state.
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the rear.
- Disconnect it from the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds, then press and hold the power button on the printer for 30 seconds.
- Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
- Reconnect to the printer and power it on.
2. Check for Cartridge Issues
The “E” error often relates to ink cartridge detection or seating.
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Remove both cartridges and inspect for:
- Protective tape still attached to the copper contacts.
- Dust or ink buildup on the metal contacts.
- Gently clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth.
- Reinsert the cartridges firmly and close the door.

3. Update Printer Firmware
Outdated firmware can cause persistent error states.
- Visit the HP DeskJet 2755e driver and firmware page.
- Download and install the latest firmware update for your operating system.
4. Reset Network Settings (if setup was interrupted)
If the error occurred during Wi-Fi setup:
- Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds.
- The blue light will begin blinking, indicating the printer is ready for setup.
- Reconnect using the HP Smart app.
Let me know how it goes.
You deserve a smooth, reliable printing experience—and I’ll stay with you until it’s resolved.
