Every time I print a multi-page document on the printer HP Smart Tank 519 after the first page it stops and displays the message E2, although the A4 paper format set on the printer corresponds to the A4 format of the paper inserted into the printer.

Hi @anatoly_malash,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Error E2 on the HP Smart Tank 519 printer usually indicates a paper mismatch error, meaning that the printer detects a difference between the paper size set in the print settings and the paper size loaded in the tray. Since you've confirmed that A4 is both selected and loaded, let's troubleshoot further.

Confirm Print Settings

  1. Open the Print Settings on your computer or device.
  2. Ensure the following:
    • Paper Size: Set to A4 (210 x 297 mm).
    • Paper Type: Set to "Plain Paper" (if applicable).
  3. If you’re printing from a PDF or specific software, check that the document's print settings also match A4.

Adjust Paper Tray

  1. Ensure the paper is loaded correctly:
    • The paper stack is neatly aligned.
    • The paper width and length guides are adjusted snugly against the edges of the A4 paper.
  2. Remove and reinsert the paper to ensure proper detection.

Restart Printer and Clear Queues

  1. Cancel the current print job.
  2. Turn off the printer, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on.
  3. Clear the print queue on your computer or device before sending the document again.

Run Printer Alignment (if applicable)

Sometimes alignment issues can cause detection problems.

  1. Go to the HP Smart App or printer menu (if available).
  2. Look for the option to perform a Paper Alignment or Printer Alignment and follow the instructions.

Update Firmware and Software

  1. Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Use the HP Smart App or visit HP Support.
  2. Update your printer driver on your computer by downloading the latest version from the HP website.
