I tried to print on a manila envelope. It got stuck. I took the back off to remove it, but the machine pulled it in. It did not come out in the tray and I cannot find access to it. The printer works fine with it in there, but I would like to get it out to avoid damage.

I cannot imagine something the size of a manila envelope jammed inside the printer as not causing some kind of trouble. Smiling.
Having said that, maybe the envelope found its way under the second tray (if your printer has a second tray). This is out of the way enough that until you tried to use that area again, that it is (perhaps) possible that the printer would not "notice" the obstruction as quickly.
The envelope, if it is smaller than I envision, might be wrapped around one of the rollers. ??
Is it inside the duplexer?
Is the envelope in the back of the tray area (or under the tray?)
A Mystery.
